Headley. Winner entered to be claimed for ,000. WENT TO POST 5:40. AT POST J minute. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. HIGH MAN, never a great distance back and under strong restraint until reaching the final quarter, bore over while gaining gradually in the drive and, wearing down KAPENA, appeared ready to draw out. The latter, reserved off the pace and responding well when called upon, slowly wore down PEGGYS PEGGY and held on well, but was not good enough. BEAU BON had speed from the start, but was under stout restraint for three-quarters, lacked room in the drive, never fully recovered after being eased in the final eighth and with better luck might have been a stronger factor. BAKU closed well. PEGGYS PEGGY had speed from the start, saved ground throughout, and was holding on well when crowded into the rail in the final eighth. ZENKA raced wide and could not get up. POLLY RITA showed little. Scratched 34372Mareve, 113; 34273Sherron, 109. Overweight High Man, 1 pound.
