DESGAI lacked early speed, was compelled to race on the outside throughout and, closing steadily under stout punishment, was rapidly wearing down the winner. JOHN ALLEN was hard hustled to take a clear lead in the run down the back stretch, was under urging thereafter and tired when challenged. DUSTY DAWN, in motion at the start, was unable to protect its advantage, was rated under steady restraint, but could not reach the winner. MARICA broke well, but dropped right out of it, came to the inside on the turn and closed with a belated rush. XIOONSON was unprepared to start, was hard ridden to get into contention in the run to the first turn while lucky to get through, came wide in the stretch and tired.
