JADAAN IN POPULAR WIN Margaret G. Beaten a Head in Sportsmans Park Thriller. Hauer Again Stars in Saddle Red Go and Bonnie Dream Earn Purses in Respective Races. CICERO, 111., Oct. 23. The four-year-old gelding, Jadaan, from the stable maintained by Gorbet and Irvln, raced to a popular victory in the Burnham Purse, one of the principal events on this afternoons program at Sportsmans Park. The finish of the race, a sprint of six and a half furlongs, was one of the most thrilling of the meeting, for closely pressing the son of Carlaris for major honors as he flashed under the wire were Margaret G., which finished second, and Chrysostom, which took down third money. Only heads separated them at the end. Jadaan, carrying Henry Hauer to his second saddle success of the afternoon, made every post a winning one, but only for a brief moment approaching the home stretch was he able to draw into a clear .lead. Margaret G. was closest to the winner for a quarter and then Chrysostom challenged the Gorbet and Irvin representative. Nearing the stretch Jadaan drew slightly away from his rivals, but once straightened out for the run to the wire, both Margaret G. and Chrysostom again joined him. The race was among the three all the way, the other starters, Brustlgert, which finished fourth; Bungalow and Tartan Betsy, being well back after the opening quarter. Jadaan ran the distance over a good track in 1:24. The program was witnessed by a fairly large Friday gathering. Skies were overcast most of the afternoon and the day chilly. HAUERS THIRD WINNER. Apprentice Hauer rode his third winner of the afternoon in the sixth race as B. James 200th victory of the year continued to elude him. "Viajero, the betting choice, the fourth favorite toScore today, wore down Baby Way, which had set all the pace, in the final sixteenth to win by a length and a quarter. Baby Way was second, two lengths before Ruckie, while Eleanor C. was fourth in the field of seven two-year-olds. The public backed Tarping to the almost exclusion of all others in the five furlongs opening event, but the best he could do was to finish second to W. B. Rays Whiskarita in a driving finish. The latter, with W. J. Griffin in the saddle, wore down Tarping in the final sixteenth to score by a neck and reward her handful of backers to the extent of 2.60 for . Curley Cue was third, six lengths off the leaders, with Ralph C. fourth. BONNIE DREAM DRIVING. The daughter of Kilkerry, ridden by Henry Hauer, finished well under energetic riding to wear down Bustanybody in the final sixteenth and then stall off Swift Queen. The latter earned second place, a length and a half before Bustanybody, while The Millay was fourth, two more lengths away. The race brought together a field of ten. The Blue Ridge Farm Stable, whose horses have been cutting quite a figure here, provided the winner of the third race in Red Continued on thirty-eighth oage.
