CASSIDY STAR VICTORIOUS Consistent Bill Farnsworth Accounts for the Worcester Handicap. Third Straight Success and Eighth Victory of Year for Gelding Inaugural at Narragansett PAWTUCKET, R. I., Oct 23. Bill Farnsworth, star of the stable of Marion Cassidy and one of the most consistent performers in the East, scored his third straight and eighth victory of 1936, as he overcame early trouble to speed past the judges a length In advance of his nearest rival in the Worcester Handicap, feature of the inaugural program at Narragansett Park this afternoon. At the end of the. six furlongs, which he completed in 1:11, he had the game Party Spirit as his closest attendant, with The Fighter, a mighty weary colt, half a length farther back. The effort added ,155 to the earnings of the Crack Brigade Princess Nora three-year-old and demonstrated he is the best sprinter at the OHara track. The triumph gave trainer Clarence Buxton and jockey George Seabo a double, as the pair had participated in the earlier score of Knights Plume. Bill Farnsworth was best backed of the seven contestants, showing .30 in the "tote" pay-off. His performance was witnessed by a large crowd, one that would have been greater only for the bleak skies, which threatened rain all through the day, a slight drizzle beginning after the running of the feature. Happy Knot had the early speed of the party, and dashed away to a clear lead, while Bill Farnsworth was being shuffled back in the first sixteenth. GAME RESPONSE. The latter was a trifle slow in recovering after being shunted back, and not until making the curve from the back stretch did he settle in full stride once more. Party Spirit, favored by a seven-pound weight pull over the winner, which was packing 117, was shy on early foot, but closed a big gap from the three-sixteenths pole to the stand, to deprive The Fighter of place honors. The latter attended the pace of Happy Knot closest with Robertson making his run on the Happy Argo mare turning for home to gain a brief lead. In the last sixteenth he tailed off surprisingly, but no one came along to question his right to third money. Rudie, Bill Gallaghers home-bred" candidate for the New England Futurity, made a most favorable impression on the opening day throng as he galloped over the mile of the Chatham Purse in 1:39 to register with utmost ease.
