CROUT AU POT forced the early pace, under strong restraint, took command quickly approaching the stretch and, continuing well under occasional mild pressure, held sway thereafter. CHASTITY, also under stout reserve early, could not get to the winner when placed to pressure, yet held on gamely. HOPE ETERNAL, sharply blocked on the first turn, moved up leaving the back stretch and raced evenly thereafter. VOLTA MAID tired badly after five-eighths. SICKLEBILL was badly offside early, but closed going well. SKI had no mishaps. AUKAI ran out badly. Overweight Crout au Pot. 5 pounds; Chastity, 2; Hope Eternal, 1. Corrected weight Volta Maid, 107. Creech; bred by Mr. G. G. Wedding. Winner entered to be claimed for ,000. WENT TO POST 5:43. AT POST J minute. Start good and slow for all but High Hatter. Won driving; second and third the same. GANNONNIC, lucky and well up from the start, secured room between horses in the back stretch and, holding on well while on the inside in the final three-eighths, outfinished MANHATTAN at the end. The latter, having speed from the start and under mild restraint for three-quarters, held on well. MISS MOO, probably best, ran out when racing in easy command soon after entering the stretch, again went out on the second turn, was weakly handled in the stretch and faltered in the last eighth. PRINTEMPS, taken back repeatedly, closed on her own courage. GREY PAL lost much ground. HIGH HATTER, away poorly, had little chance. Overweight Miss Anthony 5, poRndj, . t r i- j.
