KNIGHTS PLUME, away in the first flight, drew clear in the opening quarter mile, increased his lead -steadily thereafter and won as if outclassing his opposition. NATTY BOY raced into contention with a rush after the first eighth, continuing gamely to the end. DEAD CALM, quickest to begin, was unable to keep pace early, moved up rounding the far turn and held on well to the close. SUN LAMP was unable to keep up. HILDEGARD made up some ground. NIGRETTE had good speed for a half mile. LAMBS WOOL was slow to bciin and made up some ground. CASINGHEAD lacked speed and showed a dull effort. Scratched 35097 Top Notcher, 115. BEVEAU dropped back after outbreaking his field, moved up approaching the far turn, responded gamely to hard urging when reaching the stretch and was along in the closing strides to wear down NARISE. The latter had speed all the way, withstood determined opposition from TRUJILLO and MISS PREMIER, disposed of them and. fought it out courageously to the end. PACKAGE was outpaced early, saved ground in the stretch and finished in determined fashion. MISS PREMIER was well placed for the first half mile, but tired in the closing drive. TRUJILLO tired after going three-eighths. JUBILEE JIM was moving up stoutly on the inside after leaving the back stretch, only to race into close quarters and had to be eased back. BAY BUDDY raced to the front in the run to the first turn, was forced to meet determined opposition from CRITICISE, disposed of him and, meeting another bid from HOME WORK, barely lasted to hold BOUNDING COUNT safe. The latter was outrun until leaving the back stretch, moved up steadily on the outside rounding the far turn and, closing stoutly through the stretch, would probably have been the winner in a few more strides. HOME WORK moved up threateningly approaching the stretch, but was unable to make up any ground through the last three-sixteenths. SOUND MONEY closed some ground. BILL FARNSWORTH was forced to take up midway through the back stretch, was taken to the outside, moved up gradually and swung to the outside when reaching the stretch, wore down the leaders and drew clear at the end. PARTY SPIRIT improved his position steadily and closed with good energy. THE FIGHTER, in closest pursuit of the early pace, assumed a slight lead in the stretch when HAPPY KNOT began to falter and, under hard urging, was unable to stall off the bid of the first two. ERIN TORCH was unable to make up any ground when placed under punishment. NEW DEAL trailed for the first half mile and passed tiring horses. HAPPY KNOT displayed her usual keen early speed, faltering after going a half mile. LADY HIGLOSS retired steadily after leaving the back stretch. SKIPTON had speed from the start and, although holding on well under urging, was unable to cope with the winner- STEEL-HEAD was far back until .the closing three-eighths and finished with good courage in the final eighth. IDLE ALONG found clear sailing on the inside leavin the back stretch, loomed up menacingly nearing the stretch, then faltered when placed under punishment. ROYAL GOLD was well placed early, dropped back, though came again in the last five-sixteenths. BATTLING GIRL never could enter into serious contention, though made up- some ground. The latter, stoutly restrained until the last half mile, moved up gamely when called upon and, though closing in determined fashion, was unable to reach the winner. DUNROCK was unable to keep up early, but closed with good courage in the last three-eighths. CLEAN SPORT was prominently placed the entire trip, though unable to keep pace in the closing drive.
