J. N. CAMDEN HONOR GUEST OF THOROUGHBRED CLUB LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct 23. Three hundred persons, including many noted in racing and breeding circles, paid homage to Senator Johnson Nelson Camden last night, here, at the fifth testimpnial dinner, held by the Thoroughbred Club of America. Senator Camden was presented with a scroll, making him a life member of the organization. Grouped with him at the speakers table were E. R. Bradley, Joseph Widener and William Woodward, who had been previously honored and the last named introduced Senator Camden, only Kentucky member of The Jockey Club and chairman of the State Racing Commission. In his talk Senator Camden traced the history of the thoroughbred from the days of the Arab. Frank B. Jones acted as toastmaster and the other speakers were Mayor Reed Wilson of Lexington, Mayor Neville Miller of Louisville, Lieut Gov. Keen Johnson, Strickland Gillilan, noted humorist, and Thomas Piatt, president of the club. Bishop H. P. Almon Abbott said the invocation. The dinner was held in the Phoenix Hotel with the banquet room being decorated in keeping with the opening of the Keeneland meeting.
