HAPPY DINAH sprinted into a commanding lead after the first quarter mile, saved ground all the way and held sway until the close. EMILY JANE, away well but lacking speed to hold a forward position in the early runnine, improved her position on the outside, but could not threaten the winner. HAPPY HOSTESS followed closest to the winner for the first five-eighths, then tired slowly. MISS PECAN raced in the first flght and heid on well. BLACKSOD was strongly ridden from the beginning, but could not engage the leaders. TOUCIIE was held safe. BRIEF was outrun. GEMWTCK showed speed in the first half mile. SPINACH raced strongly from the beginning, responded to punishment, but could not threaten seriously. MACROOME improved his position steadily, but was held safe by the leaders in the final drive. TROYER made a weak effort after going a mile, then fell back steadily. CLONARD raced strongly for the first mile, then quit. BROWN RULER was never a factor. LITTLE MARTY fell at the twelfth fence. MORE TROUBLE,, prominent early in the running, responded nicely when shaken up to a slight lead in the last eiehth and outstayed THE SWAGMAN under severe pressure. THE SWAGMAN followed forwardly in the early racine. went into a slight lead midway of the turn and fought it out stubbornly in the final issue. RHYTHMICAL improved his position steadily on the outside and closed determinedly in the last half mile. BEN GAY was hard ridden all the way and was making up ground slowly at the finish. ADA CRUZ lacked early speed and passed tiring horses at the end. SUMAC and HEARTEASE were "used up setting the early pace. EBON ZE was well placed early, but failed to rally. The others were outrun. I SARACEN, a strong factor early, disposed of PHILIPPI BOY leaving the back stretch, rallied willingly when shaken up for the final drive and outstayed FINISHER under severe urging. The latter went in,th thick of contention from the start and fought it out stoutly when placed to punishment in the final drive COUNT RAE improved his position steadily and was going strongly at the end. MY SURPRISE was hard ridden after the first quarter mile to get into contention, but tired from his early efforts when the real test came. JOYRIDE, away slower than usual, wcaved his way between horses in the final five-sixteenths to close a good gap. CRUISING showed a good effort. INFANTRY outran his field going to the first turn, opened up a safe lead when straightened on the back stretch, was steadied thereafter and had speed in reserve at the end. BROWN FEATHERS, placd on the outside for the start, gained steadily after being outrun for three-quarters, but could not threaten the winner. GENIE PALATINE went closest to the winner in the first seven-eighths, fell back at the stretch turn, but outstayed TREFORD in the final drive. The latter made a stout effort when reaching the stretch but tired badly nearing the end. CANTINE LASS began slowly and was unable to menace seriously. COEQUEL had no excuses. SHOT AND SHELL, racing in its best form and having good speed to force the "pace early, disposed of SHYNO when straightened into the stretch, continued stoutly and outstayed CHRYSMUTE. The latter, rated off the pace for three-quarters, swung to the outside in the last fivc-sixecnths and finished courageously under punishment. DARK WINTER was kept under pressure in the early running and closed well when forced to a drive. SHYNO set a steady pace after going to the front, saved ground, but tired in the last eighth. DROLL STORY dropped back badly immediately after the start and was never dangerous thereafter. PAN TOY was outrun. VOSPEX was never a factor. Overweight Shyno, 1 pound; Droll Story, 3. GOLDEN VEIN, avoiding intcifcrcnce at the first turn, was rated "within striking distance of the leaders, moved up smoothly when put to a drive,, wore SEA GULL down midway of the stretch and was under mild urging at the end. The latter broke out of hand, was sent up fast between horses to enter contention at the first turn, displaced LANDSMAN when ready and held on gamely after being overhauled. FLYING FALCON met with much interference at the first turn, recovered and closed stoutly in the late stages MISS ALPHONSO broke swiftly but dropped back going to the first turn and made up ground in the late stages. SIT OUT was in trouble going to the first turn and showed a good effort after cettini 5 into racin? stride. ADAMS EVE was done after three-quarters. LANDSMAN quit badly.
