EPSOM DOWNS FINAL DAY Autumn Meeting to End With Eight-Race Program With Hussion Handicap the Feature. , HOUSTON, Texas, Oct 23. The autumn meeting of the Texas Breeders and Racing Association culminates Saturday with the running of the Hussion Handicap as the featured attraction of the eight-race program arranged for the occasion. With the completion of the twenty-four days of racing the Houston course will be closed until next spring, when a meeting is contemplated, but as yet the 1937 dates have not been applied for. However, the support accorded the autumn meeting, despite many obstacles, has been gratifying, according to the management Though small fields are the order in all races scheduled for the closing program and it was necessary to eliminate the ,500 added Ed Hussion Memorial Handicap, last of the thirteen stakes fixtures included on the Epsom Downs calendar, the Hussion Handicap, at a mile arid one-sixteenth, with a purse of ,000, has been substituted to top the bill. Seven horses, representing six interests, have been named in the overnight entries for the feature, with Mrs. Leo J. Remms Blue Train and Red Rod looming as the probable favorites in the contest Leonard Wilson, First Entry. Lady Confucius, Eva B. and El Puma round out the list of eligibles. Departure of numerous candidates for the original scheduled feature was responsible for the changing of the closing days program by racing secretaary Tom J. Brown. However, Brown is confident that the substituted handicap will provide interesting sport for south Texas turf enthusiasts who will bid the thoroughbreds adieu until 1937 Following the ringing down of the curtain at Epsom Downs the majority of thoroughbreds now here are to be transferred to Arlington Downs for racing at that Texas rack, while others will head for New Orleans up prior to the inauguration of TocUe vBc h.h rLI!tCSessijm at th Louisiana
