PROSPECTIVE FIELD FOR 5,000 AMERICAN DERBY A : It Outlook Bright for at Least Ten Starters in Saturdays Field Case Ace Outstanding Representative of Mrs. Mars Stable Eagle Pass, Over the Top and Dawn Play Among the Certain Starters Expect Big Crowd HOMEWOOD, 111., June 15. Although.it will not include the champion War Admiral and such other high ranking ones as Reaping Reward and Pompoon, the field for Saturdays revival running of the 5,000 added American Derby, richest stake of the current meeting at Washington Park, promises to provide a fine contest. While there still is time for additional candidates to come here from other parts of the present racing map, indications late Tuesday were that the mile and a quarter race would attract possibly as many as ten performers. In addition to Murph, he also has Case Ace, winner of the Illinois Derby and like Reaping Reward, one of the star juveniles of last year, Mars Shield, which already has taken down the Texas Derby and Kentucky Oaks, and the good mud runner Military to draw upon. DERBY TRIAL RACE. In the Niles Center, Murph will oppose three others tentatively regarded as probable starters in Saturdays race, along with others of merit. The Three Derby horses are Bomar Stables Yellow Tulip, Raoul Walshs Sunset Trail II., and- Tranquillity Farms Teddy Green. Others to start in the midweek feature are Talked About, Robert L., Prairie Dog, Tedall, Cross S. and Grey Count. Fursts Over the Top and King Ranchs Dawn Play. The latter, also a filly, is, according to eastern reports, probably as good as many of the stakes colts, though she has not been asked to meet them this year. - Max Hirsch, who trains Dawn Play, was expected to arrive here with the Texas-owned filly Thursday morning, although this could not be confirmed at Washington Park today. E. W. Duffys Grey Gold, from Detroit, and possibly, the Kentucky colt, Del-lor, owned by J. W. Parrish, are other invaders in the list of probable starters. BURNING STAR READY. Burning Star, owned by P. A. and R. J. Nashs Shandon Farm, like the several American Derby nominees in tomorrows trial race, is on the grounds fit and ready for the most important test of his career. The American Derby threatens to set a new attendance record for the South Side oval and already press reservations have surpassed those for- any other race held here. Coming as it does, three days before the Braddock-Louis worlds heavyweight championship fight, the American Derby will draw many out-of-town sports lovers here for Chicagos biggest sporting week-end.
