. J I j 1 I i TEXAS BILL BANS MARBLES Social Card Games Hit in Sweeping Anti-Gambling Measure Approved by House. AUSTIN, Texas, June 15. The house has approved and may finally pass today a bill so sweeping in its outlawry of gambling as to include social card games, church raffles, and playing marbles for keeps. It is intended to substitute for the bill recently passed in the senate which prohibits book-i making on all sports, amateur or professional. The house bill, originally drawn to prohibit wagers on dog races, .also outlaws book-making. A section to suppress all forms of gambling, "where people resort for the purpose of betting or wagering," was amended so that the quoted words were deleted, making it apply to private as well as public places. The amendment was presented by Representative L. M. Kenyon, of Galveston, which is referred to as the most liberal city in Texas, and where Gov. Allred has found least support in his moral crusade.
