MORITZ was kept within striking distance of the pace, moved up to supplant MILLIMETER from the command and, hard ridden at the end, just lasted to stave, off BULSTRODE. The latter was down on the inside while racing close up, swung to the outside in the stretch and responded willingly to pressure, almost overtaking the winner at the end. MILLIMETER went to the front at once, was hard ridden reaching the stretch and tired under pressure through the closing eighth. MISS TAD, hard ridden throughout, was unable to improve her position. CLEAN SPORT was unable to reach the leaders. FLOWERY LADY was never a threat. TO THE RESCUE, hard ridden to keep pace early, tired in the drive. EXUM was going willingly at the close, although never a threat. POTIPHAR was well placed throughout, and continued willingly to the close. SUGABOOT had good early speed but was unable to keep pace with the leaders in the last three-sixteenths. OSMUCK never could reach the leaders. HARLEQUINADE was never able to make up any ground under pressure. AIRY SONNET had speed for the first three-eighths, tiring badly thereafter. HUNTERDON, as usual, slow to start, began improving his position in the last half mile and, closing stoutly, took command in the stretch, and drew clear at the end. MORALIST was restrained early, moved up readily when called upon, and held on gamely in the closing drive. UNCLE FRED was shuffled back in. the opening strides, moved up gamely on the outside down the back stretch, and entered into contention Jiearing the stretch, but was unable to close any ground in the final drive. EURYALUS displayed good speed in pacemaking, but faltered in the last three-sixteenths. MIDSHIPMAN was going stoutly through the closing stages after being far back early. SHOT AND SHELL tired. APPRENTICE never was a factor. LONE HAND raced wide at the first turn and was devpid of speed the entire trip. BUILDING TRADES quit. COUNT ME was restrained while kept within striking distance of the leaders, responded willingly to pressure and closed with good energy. SANDWRACK came with a rush in the last three-sixteenths. PRINCE DEAN saved considerable ground at the stretch turn, loomed up menacingly in the stretch only to tire in the drive. CATCHALL had" good speed for the first three-quarters. HIGH DIVER was unable to reach the leaders and lost ground leaving the back stretch. BYE BYE MARY was much used in racing with the pacemaker, and faltered in the last quarter mile.
