DRAWBRIDGE WINS EASILY Carries Silks of Wheatley Stable to Victory in Diavolo Purse Tuesdays Feature at Aqueduct. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 22. Drawbridge carried the silks of the Wheatley Stable to" an easy victory in the Diavolo Purse at Aqueduct today. It was the best offering of a card that was made up of overnight events and was restricted for three-year-olds that had won at as great a distance as a mile. She simply cantered home, and second place went to Mrs. F. Ambrose Clarks Night Bud, with Alex Gordons Rebellion saving third from Melodiana, the only other starter. No time was lost at the post for this mile gallop, and as was to be expected Rebellion dashed into the lead. This is the gelded son of Jamestown that Gordon purchased from George D. Widener. While racing under the Widener silks it had been shown that the six furlongs was his limit, but Gordon had been trying him at longer distances in his gallops and he had a considerable following; As he. raced along with a lead of three lengths Nick Wall had a strong hold of his head and he was galloping well within himself. But Drawbridge was also under a stiff restraint as Longden waited back of the sprinter. Night Bud and Melodiana soon dropped far back of the leading pair. Rebellion held to his lead until well into the stretch, but Longden had made no move with Drawbridge, and when he did she readily went to the chestnut. As soon as he was caught the son of Jamestown collapsed badly and the Wheatley" filly came on to gallop home winner by five lengths. In the meantime, Sammy Renick was hard at work on Night Bud and Rebellion continuing to falter could not withstand his rush, to lose the place by two lengths. Melodiana had cut no figure in the running and was being eased up ten lengths back of the field. Drawbridge is an eligible for the Gazelle and with Dawn Play out of the way she promises to be the best of those sent to the post on her showing in this purse. There was a double for the Wheatley Stable silks and for Johnny Longden after Recorder beat a good band of plater juveniles in the fifth. This is the same colt that equalled the world record of :33 for three furlongs at Hialeah in the winter and he showed some of that speed when he raced the five furlongs in :585s. At the end he was doing his best to beat Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Godspeed by a head and another J five lengths back was Alarming. I
