LADY SYBIL IN FRONT Miss Prudence Again Loses Decision in a Camera Finish. Elmtree Stables Filly Gets Tip in Final Strides of Detroits. Main. Race Big Crowd Present. f 5 i DETROIT, . Mich., June 22Miss Prudence, which lost her previous race by a, nose decision in a camera finish, met the same fate today when Elmtree Stables Lady Sybil got up in the final strides to defeat her at the end of six furlongs in the Hiram Walker Purse, principal race, offered as the sixth race, at Detroit this afternoon. Bomar Stables. Mary Keen was third, four lengths back of Miss Prudence and a nose before Dolaway, which charged up on the outside to beat Bunny Martin and Mary Vito at the end. Six fillies and mares were under colors, and Bunny Martin, the favorite, had no chance after being unprepared at the start. Miss Prudence sprinted into a clear lead during the run to the final half mile, with the winner in closest pursuit and on the outside.. After reaching the stretch they raced in nip-and-tuck fashion, with Lady Sybil, favored by her impost of 103 pounds, proving the gamest Dolaway and Mary Keen were always before Bunny Martin and Mary Vito. Miss Prudence carried top weight of 110 pounds and was second choice in the race. The winner was held at odds of 5 to 1. FAIR WEATHER. With fair weather prevailing and with the track in a better condition, the crowd which was swelled by many visitors here for the Shriners convention, was the largest of the week. Favorites, however, were again in the minority, and it was not until the fifth race, a purse affair for platers, that the public was successful. Brophy, from Aid-rich and Winans stable, gave them some cause to worry during the opening three-eighths when under J. Marreros guidance he charged down on the outside to take the lead near the final furlong and reached the finish more than clear of Cruising, which finished second. Smart Girl was third, but she had only a head advantage pver Narise, which also came from far back to garner fourth laurels. As customary, Alwintour held sway during the early stages, but Kingsbury and Smart Girl were right with him and the latter forged to the front near the final quarter. After attaining a clear advantage, Smart Girl was steered to the inside and stiffest going and when Brophy made his belated challenge, she gave way rapidly. ANOTHER FOR PASSABLE. Passable chalked up another victory for the Kentucky-owned Hal Price Headley stable when the unsexed son of Apprehension and Bantry Pass was an easy winner over Swing It, Darby Darlin and five other maiden juveniles at the end of five furlongs. Under Herb Fisher and well up from the. start, the winner was eased to avoid the interference at the far turn, but coming fast when clear he rapidly wore down the pace-making Kings Double to reach the finish with a five-length advantage. Former jockey Jack Hanover saddled his first winner of the meeting for Friedberg and Axton when Ethelmont got up in the last stride to beat Dixianas well-supported High Minded by a head at the end of five furlongs in the third race, which was for maiden plater two-year-olds. Lee Cloud was third, some six lengths back of High Minded and three lengths before Rose K., which finished fourth. Lee Cloud was the second choice. Another favorite met defeat when Ladino finished second to Alan Tiptons Prince Heather at the end of six furlongs in the fourth event. Third honors went to Count Cotton.
