JUST FRANK SURPRISES J. J. Farrells Silks First in Optimist International Purse. Dnieper Betting Choice in Feature at Latonia Goldblatt Color-bearer Among Unplaced. LATONIA, Ky., June 22. Finishing with a cyclonic rush, J. J. Farrells Just Frank accounted for the Optimist International Purse, sixth and feature race on this afternoons program at Latonia. The four-year-old son of Justice F. Baby Face, was a half length in front of Tom B. Youngs Paris Prince, which was a head in advance of Mrs. R. J. Murphys Blessed Again. Seven went postward in the mile and seventy yards event with Dnieper being installed the betting choice, but the Mose Goldblatt colorbearer proved unequal to the task, and had to be content with fourth money. Broadway and My Blaze engaged in a duel to set the early pace with the former displaying the most speed, while Just Frank was back in the ruck for the most part of the contest. However, as the stretch was approached, Porter Roberts sent Dnieper into .the lead, and it looked as though the verdict would go to the favorite. Dniepers reign in front was short, however, as Blessed Again forged to the front while the field straightened out in the stretch. Just Frank made a move on the outside at this juncture and swiftly took command, but had to be hard urged in the final stages to ward off the rush of Paris Prince. GOLD CUP TO JIM GASS. A gold cup was presented to Jim Gass, trainer of Just Frank, following the running of the race, by Earl Stanz, president of the Optimist International, while a large gathering of Optimists, who are attending a convention of the organization in Cincinnati, were in attendance. The Rosedale Stables Amneris proved an easy winner in the opening race, which brought together seven three-year-olds at six furlongs. Ridden by Bobby Hutton, the bay daughter of Masked Marvel II. scored by two and a half lengths over Cheer Star, while Red Raider held on for third. Chanting, which was installed the favorite, broke slowly and was far back throughout. Five of the better grade two-year-olds engaged in the Faraway Farms Purse, a five furlongs sprint occupying fourth, position, and A. L. Darnaby, veteran Kentucky trainer, saddled his second straight winner as Noticing came from behind to defeat J. W. Parrishs Knee Deep by a head in a driving, finish. Masked Plane finished third, while Cometa and Don Byrd completed the field. LADY ORCHID GRADUATES A capacity field of maiden two-year-old fillies engaged in the second event, a dash of five furlongs, with the Live Oak Stables Lady Orchid graduating. Polly Greenock finished second and Buena Oro third. Mrs. J. Houstons Nogalo proved best of the dozen sprinters that met in the third event, defeating Instead by a length and one-half in easy manner. Ima Greenock was a fast-finishing third in the six furlongs dash. Moving up with a rush, Nogalo overhauled Instead as they straightened out for the wire and swiftly drew into the clear, and apprentice Dee Packer did not have to apply the whip during the final stages. Coming from behind with a rush in the final quarter, J. W. Parrishs Proph coasted to "an easy victory in the Mammoth Cave Purse, fifth race, which brought together a field of six. Aunt Myrtle finished second, two and a half lengths in the wake of the winner, while third money was garnered by Hat Check.
