FINDON, lacking early speed, gained fast in the last three-sixteenths, swung to the outside of the leaders in the closing drive, then finished fast to get up at the close. BAY STOUT went forwardly under strong pressure and held on courageously in the final test. SPEEDALONG was hurried into a clear lead, came out in the better footing when reaching the stretch, but could not stave off the first two. HIGH PALFFY was vigorously ridden while on the outside but had too much taken out of him in the early running. BALANCE UP showed a good effort. KELT was pinched back by the leaders at the stretcli turn, then went to the inside and finished in the deepest footing. FRIENDLY FOE was outrun. CHASTE did not fancy the footing. ATCINES, racing well, went to the outside when straightened on the back stretch, bettered his position gradually until reaching the leaders, wore BERRY PATCH down inside the final eighth and came away slowly nearing the finish. The latter was rated in front, shook off PLAYMORE but could not withstand the winner. THE BARD gained steadily in the last half mile. PLAYMORE challenged boldly at the turn out of the back stretch but faltered in the final eighth. JANE McCREA closed a big gap. FAIR BILLY was never a factor. ORBREY was done earlv. INDIANA, going in her best form, took command soon after the start, raced into a clear lead and held sway for the entire trip. SAKUNTALA improved her position steadily and came gamely in the final drive. BRIEF, outrun early, worked her way forwardly on the outside but could not threaten seriously. TOP NOTCHER, forced to race wide for a half mile, closed stoutly between horses in the late stages. SHES MINE lacked early speed, then came through on the inside irt the final stages. DISOWN was badly sloughed by GREY CHIEFTAIN going into the turn and had no chance, although recovering gamely. PIPERS TUNE was held safe. GREY CHIEFTAIN raced forwardly for a half mile, then quit. DORNOCH well placed in the early running, challenged stoutly nearing the stretch, rallied to punishment in the final drive and was up in the last strides. HOOSIC MAID showed good speed while setting the pace, saved a lot of ground all the way and continued gamely when challenged. WEDDING RING worked his way up steadily and made up ground during the final drive. FLOWER TIME, lacking early speed, passed tiring horses in the late stages. GOLDEN DOT broke fast but lacked speed. JUSTA GIRO couldnt get to the front and tired after a half mile. RUNANSTAY and PEGGY MINE were outrun.
