SPEYCREST, rated in behind SURCHARGE and SATIN ROCK, moved up on the outside on the turn, went into the lead after straightening away in the stretch and was drawing away at the end. CUP WINNER broke fast, dropped back slightly, moved up after entering the stretch, but could not reach the winner under strong urging. SATIN ROCK showed early speed and went evenly throughout. BALAXY, quick to start, was taken under slight restraint when outrun by EVENING JUDGE, came to the outside of the leaders after reaching the stretch, responded gamely and held ASPERGE safe. The latter, rated after the first early pace, moved up strongly when put to pressure in the stretch and finished determinedly. PATSY SWEEP, unruly at the post, showed good speed and hung on gamely in the drive. FLORESENCE, slow to get going, closed stoutly through the stretch. HEATHER ROSE swerved in the stretch. LAFITOFF, in the thick of contention from the start, responded gamely in the stretch, came between KID GLOVE and LITTLE SARGENT and, under strong handling, just lasted to hold LITTLE SARGENT. The latter, outrun early, worked his way into contention rounding the turn, came fast in the drive and was catching the winner at every stride. LAST TIME, well up the entire trip, hung on gamely at the end. KID GLOVE, quickest to begin, faltered badly through the stretch. CHIPS was shuffled back badly before going a sixteenth of a mile. BROTHER THOMAS, rated behind HAPPY FIND and SANTAN, moved up gradually on the back stretch, responded gamely after entering the stretch and, under strong riding, got along in the final stride. HAPPY FIND went into a long lead after breaking quickly, was rated along in front, but could not hold the winner at the end. BLAST, far back in the early stages, came with a rush through the stretch and was catching the first two. TRICKLING made up a little ground. SANTAN tired after forcing the early .pace. LISTARO raced into a short lead on the back stretch, dropped back on the turn, but came again through the run home. BOSCOBEL, away in the first flight, was eased back on the turn and came again when put to pressure. AUNT FLOR raced into th lead on the final turn, but tired steadily in the drive. MASONVILLE, quick to begin, was eased back when outrun by QUEENSWAY and BEECHVIEW, came to the inside for the drive, obtained a slight lead a few yards from the wire but could not stall off the winner. BEECHVIEW forced the early pace and continued well to the end, although tiring slightly. RIDEAU had early speed, raced QUEENSWAY into submission, went into the lead before reaching the eighth post, but tired suddenly. QUEENSWAY quit badly after displaying good early speed. METTLE had speed from the outset, went into the lead on the back stretch, continued gamely but was no match for the winner at the end. MISS COG, rated behind the early pace, moved up strongly in the stretch but tired at the end. MARGIE LOU tired after showing some early speed. NELL KUHLMAN never threatened.
