BOSTON MARY WINS THRILLER Keck in Front of Good Omen at Rockingham Park. Brooks Campaigner Makes Brilliant Bush Through Stretch to Gain Verdict-Light Rain Falls. SALEM, N. H., June 28. J. M. Brooks Boston Mary drove through next to the rail to win the Michael J. Wrenn Handicap, which featured the sport at Rockingham Park this afternoon. It was a thrilling battle in the final sixteenth of a mile, with Boston Mary gaining the decision by a neck under a rousing ride from Babe Hanford. liss L. C. Whites Good Omen was second, just a head in front of Ladfield, with Mar-8on, the fourth horse, just half a length farther back. Likewise, the choice, beat only one horse Founder. The latter pulled up lame. The winner finished in the good time of 1:11. Ladfield left very alertly from his outside position, but Good Omen exhibited her usual early speed and headed him a few yards from the start. The pair went down the backstretch heads and necks apart, with Likewise well within striking distance. The latter, a front runner, attempted to match . the leaders speed as they approached the far turn, but was unequal to the task and began to drop back. Boston Mary was far back until they turned for home. There she squeezed through a narrow opening next to the rail, saving many lengths, and came into the j stretch second, with Good Omen still showing the way and Ladfield dangerously close. At the sixteenth post Hanford went to work on Boston Mary. She had little running room, but she came through gallantly and was drawing away slightly at the end. Good 6men was gamer than usual today. The weather remained threatening for todays sport. Only light rain fell, however, and the track was not affected.
