t SANTA ANITA TURF NOTES 4 : . e "Bud" Stotler, trainer for the big Vander-bilt string, states that Adventurer, the two-year-old which has not as yet been to the races, has, nevertheless, worked well and shown that he possesses plenty of peed. This strapping colt is a full brother of the great Discovery and a bigger horse today than the latter. He weighs over 1,200 pounds, stands sixteen hands, and from a distance could not be told from his more famous brother. Stotler also, states that Heelfly, the Van-derbilt nominee for the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap, which has not raced since last fall, is sound as a brass hell again and coming along splendidly in bis training. Galley Slave, which established a worlds record for Vanderbilt at Santa Anita last winter over the three-eighths route, has not been raced since leaving here. She became sick back East last summer and was turned oat, but she looks well again and is training up to expectations. j Judge William A. Quigley was on the railroad siding the other morning at Santa Anita to inspect the new Pennsylvania Railroad horse car, which was named "The Del Mar Turf Club," in honor of the course j "where the turf meets the surf." This is the very latest car of its kind.
