BEAUFAST, slow to find his best speed; was taken back and to the outside on the turn, circled the leaders entering the stretch and finished fast on the outside. OCALA, close to the pace from the start and on the outside, moved up stoutly in the stretch to take a short lead in the final sixteenth, then continued gamely to the end and just failed to last. COME BY CHANCE gradually bettered her postiipn while saving ground and "finished stoutly. HANDLEY had good early speed to set the pace, saved ground, but faltered badly through the stretch. SMALL DEVIL, away poorly, could never engage the leaders. BLUE PRELUDE was caught in close quarters on the turn and was forced to pull up. The others were outrun. PETEE LAD, confidently handled, was waited with off the pace of the leaders until leaving the back stretch, moved up fast on the inside on the final turn, drew clear easily and was well in hand thereafter. SPANISH MAID, closest to the pace of CHOICE GOODS from the start, made a determined bid in the final eighth, but could not withstand the bid of the winner. HALLOO, a trailer in the early racing, bettered her position after a half mile and closed a good gap. CALL ME ANNE, closer than usual in the early racing, quit badly when placed under pressure. CHOICE GOODS had good early speed to set the pace, but quit badly. LEW DUNLIN was through early. The others were outrun. PHILIGAL, taken under stout restraint off the pace of BORO POKER, came around the leader entering the stretch where she went wide, continued in the middle of the track and held TULEYRIES LAD safe. The latter, always in a contending position, was taken wide entering the stretch and finished stoutly when clear. TULEYRIES LADS rider claimed a foul which was not allowed. BORO POKER had good early speed to open up a clear lead, saved ground on the turns, but tired in the final drive. DEBACLE raced evenly and saved ground, but was not good enough. MAD DASH could never threaten. JUDITH B. fell in the run to the first turn. The others were outrun. TEDMELIA forced the early pace of OCEAN ROLL, was carried slightly wide by him entering the stretch, but took a short lead and continued gamely, though no match for the winner. OCEAN ROLL was hustled into command following the start, then swung wide entering the stretch, but tired slightly in the final drive. LANDLUBBER passed tiring horses while making up some ground.
