HIALEAH PARK TURF NOTES f Frank Kearns, trainer for the Calumet Farm Stable, and his pet monkey, Gar-gantua II., are again basking in the balmy Florida sunshine, along with sixteen Warren Wright thoroughbreds. The pretentious stable which Chicagos baking-powder king will race at Hialeah Park during the winter meeting, January 11 to March 4, include Bull Lea, Privileged and Count Morse, the Wright hopes in the 0,000 added Widener Chal-lengfe Cup, and Count Morse, Ted Easy, Easy Mon, Doubt Not, Vain Bo, Sure Off, Calumet Red, Lbtta Bull, Greeny and five yearlings. Racing secretary Charles J. McLennans office staff at Hialeah is intact, with A. Hile-man, Sidney Brown, John Turner, Jr., and John Turner, Sr. Hileman, who also acts In the capacity of Hialeah paddock judge, serves as racing secretary at Shreveport, La., and Beulah Park, and is affiliated with the office staffs at Washington Park and Arlington Park. Brown is assistant racing secretary at Keeneland and employed at Washington Park, Lincoln Fields, Arlington Park, Hawthorne and Churchill Downs. Turner, Jr., serves at Havre de Grace, Laurel Park, Pimlico, Delaware Park and the five Maryland half-mile courses. The Hialeah Park racing family is rapidly building up to full force. Latest to arrive are Francis Dunne and John Turner, Sr., both placing judges; George Cassidy, starter; Myron Davis and Walter Mara, patrol judges; Bill Constantine, a. member of the starters crew and superintendent Eddie Grogan and Capt. George Salmon, of the racing division of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency. Jack Campbell, New York racing secretary and Hialeah steward, motored from Bowie to St. Augustine and there boarded his brigantine for a leisurely cruise down the inland waterways to Miami. Jack Adler, champion deep-throated announcer of all ages and a claimant of the all-time record for distance in voice carrying, is a jubilant arrival at Hialeah Park for the season. Remaining on the current list of Preak-ness nominations lor 1939 are several thoroughbreds now quartered at Hialeah Park. The Saratoga. Stables Volitant is resting up at Hialeah, preparatory to making ready for the 0,000 added Flamingo Stakes and the . 0,000 added Widener Challenge Cup, having been nominated for both stakes. Greentree Stables Hash, John Hay Whitneys Heather Broom and Starmount Stables Shambles which were nominated for the Preakness are likewise candidates for the Flamingo and Widener. Road work will be the least of worries for jockeys at Hialeah Park this winter, for in addition to the latest type of electric "sweat" cabinets the boys will have another way of reducing. A cement tennis court is being constructed among the waving palms adjoining the new jockey recreation room for the boys to use in the early morning hours.
