WATERCURE, never far back and in hand for three-quarters, began to move up thereafter on the outside, responded to pressure and was up in the closing strides. IMPERIAL JEAN moved up with a rush on the inside after three-eighths to take the lead, drew out after reaching the stretch and tired in the last sixteenth, but lasted to dead heat FALSE CARD for second place. The latter, on the outside early, raced to the inside after a quarter, lost ground on the second turn and then moved up next to the rail in the stretch and closed gamely. RAMROD had good speed from the beginning, was put to pressure after three-quarters, held on well to the last quarter and then tired. DUNFOX had no mishaps. Wron driving; second and third the same. IDLE ELF, well up from the beginning and in hand for a half mile, was put to good pressure thereafter and wore down OUR DAVID in the last eighth. OUR DAVID made the pace under good rating, was put to a drive in the last quarter, was bumped by the winner inside the last eighth and just failed to last. SPORT HEEL forced the pace under occasional light pressure, was hard ridden after a half mile and tired in the drive. GOLDEN FATE failed to rally when called upon after three-eighths and showed a dull effort. MANDAS BABY lacked speed and had no excuses. JUST AHEAD tired. PHRIXUS set the pace under good rating, readily gave way to the winner and then held on gamely. BIRDS EYE had good speed from the beginning, was put to pressure after three-eighths and held on well. HUEU, in hand for three-eighths, was put to pressure thereafter, bore out in the drive and could not threaten the leaders. PRINCE JEAN failed to rally when shaken up after three-eighths. CYCAS tired. DOMANIO was hustled into a commanding lead rounding the first turn, was taken in hand thereafter while retaining a wide margin, but was unable to withstand the winner.
