: I TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES i Robert P. McAuliffe, Tropical and Oriental Park official, returned to Miami today from New Orleans, where he was interesting horsemen in the coming meeting at Oriental Park. Patrick C. Galliger, Tropical Park placing judge, will serve as racing secretary on all tracks under the Independent Canadian Racing Association in Ontario next summer. George Read, New York racing official and noted clocker, will be in Miami for the opening of the Tropical Park meeting, and plans to leave for Cuba on December 31. He will be accompanied by his. wife and his assistant, Carl Corona. James Butwell, former star jockey, is again serving as postmaster in the Tropical Park racing division. Ralph "Money" McBain, now serving at the Charles Town meeting in West Virginia, again will be custodian of the jockeys room at Tropical Park. He will arrive in Miami a few days before the opening on December 19. Fred Caposola, New York turf writer and New York State Racing Commission inspector, will be in charge of the new electric board installed at Tropical Park to describe the running of the races. This innovation will supplant the public address system formerly used at the Gables course. Dr. J. M. Thomas, of Palatka, Florida, has been appointed to assist Dr. J. G. Catlett, Florida State Racing Commission veterinarian. Dr. Thomas duties will include the pre-race examination of every horse racing that day, which has been introduced at Tropical and Hialeah Park by the state commission.
