HIALEAH PARK TURF NOTES : Marshall Cassidy, assistant to the president of the Miami Jockey Club, has joined Hialeah Parks official family. Cassidy in addition to serving as steward at Hialeah, Bowie and Pimlico, is the presiding steward representing the New York State Racing Commission, and a member of the Florida licensing board. "Florida should have a large influx of visitors," said Cassidy, "and Hialeah can expect an excellent meeting. The finest thoroughbreds in the country are scheduled to race in the Widener and other valuable stakes." Louis B. Mayer, noted Hollywood movie producer whose buying activity at the Saratoga yearlings sales and individual purchases of older horses this year has given him one of the most pretentious racing stables in the country, is a nominator to Hialeah Stakes. The California sportsman has nominated five thoroughbreds for the 0,000 added Widener Challenge Cup to be run at Hialeah Park, Saturday, March 4. Those listed are: Perifox, four-year-old bay colt, by Gallant Fox and Periwinkle H.f which William Woodward, chairman of The Jockey Club, brought over from England, and later sold to Mayer. Ossabaw, four-year-old black gelding by Grandace Eileen W., and champion jumper of the year when acquired from Thomas Hitchcock ti become converted into a flat racer. Brooklyn, four-year-old bay colt, by Blue Larkspur Knockaney Bridge, which formerly sported the colors of Col. E. R. Bradley. Magic Hour, three-year-old bay colt, by Sortie One Hour, winner of the Lawrence Realization at Belmont Park for Ogden Phipps. Quick Devil, three-year-old bay colt, by Diavolo Double Time, which had been the property of the Wheatley Stable.
