I BAY MEADOWS TURF NOTES - 4 Among the best two-year-olds at Bay Meadows are Royal Crusader, bay colt, owned by Rancho Casitas; Wild Chicle, black colt, owned by Samuel Briskin; Clanging, bay colt, owned by E. A. Neely, and Dick Ball, brown colt, owned by Maj. R. C. Woodruff. Clanging is a half brother of the fast sprinter Clang. Honey Boat, a chestnut grandson of Man o War through Boatswin, is out of it for a while with bucked shins. The colt is in the Rancho Casitas string. Paul Lycan conditioner of the Errol Mac-Boyle youngsters, is taking things easy while the Sierra Nevada babies "get the lay of the land" after being vanned to Bay Meadows from Pleasanton. High Joss, a chestnut filly, "fills the eye" and may be quite a bit above the ordinary. She is a stablemate to Dick Ball and three others in the Woodruff establishment. All the two-year-olds are by High Ball, a son of the Ballot horse Midway. At the second session of the baby school at Bay Meadows next Monday afternoon, general manager W. P. Kyne will again be honorary "commencer." Bill is immensely interested in the colts and takes advantage of every opportunity to watch their progress as racers. Twice as many pupils are expected by starter Ed Thomas as at the first session.
