HfiURES HAY CLEAR RIDER Said to Confirm Innocence of Jockey Richardson in Match Race. Edwin J. Brown Consents to View Motf Pictures of Seablscult-Ligaroti Affair, Cause of Suspension. SAN BRUNO, Calif., April 7. Jockey Noel "Spec" Richardson, who was grounded Tsy the California Horse Racing Board at the commencement of the Santa Anita meeting, expects to obtain reinstatement through a series of motion pictures showing the running of the now famous Seabiscuit-Liga-roti match race at Del Mar last summer. Richardson has received the films from Bing Crosby, and Edwin J. Brown, steward representing the Horse Racing Board, has consented to view them. It may be that they will be the means of returning Richardson to the saddle. The films are reputed to show that Richardson could not possibly have grabbed !Woolf during the stretch run of the race. It is said that they show Seabiscuit next to the rail and Ligaroti well out with daylight separating the two until after the eighth post had been passed. Then state those who have seen the pictures, Ligaroti bore in under punishment, but Richardson was too busy -whipping with one hand and guiding his mount with the other to have grabbed Seabiscuit. In any event, Richardson has taken his setback gracefully while still firmly convinced that he is in the right and will make a strong bid for reinstatement. LIGAROTI MISSES RIDER. He has obtained the services of attorneys, and they will be present when the film is shown to the officials. Meanwhile Ligaroti, a star horse last summer but a dud during the Santa Anita season, seems to be pining for "Specs" presence. The South American horse is reported to not do his best for any other jockey, and if Richardson again gets into the good graces of the stewards he and Ligaroti may once more prove a dangerous combination in handicaps. Following a rest period of Thursday and Friday, Tanforan reopens Saturday with the feature race being the Kings Mountain Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, over six furlongs. Galapas, Brown Jade, Jubal Junior, Indiantown and a number of other speed merchants, are entered and as the field is large a break in racing luck may decide the issue. Some horses that have been running almost exclusively in distance races are in the field, but those distance runners sometimes get up to pay big prices in sprints. The announcement that Francis Albertarii had been appointed director of publicity for the Bay Meadows track, was well received by all. Albertani, who made his West Coast debut in a similar capacity at Hollywood Park last summer, has been the head of the. publicity bureau at the Havana, Cuba, track during the winter. He replaces R. E. Leigh-ninger, now southern California sports editor, as head of the Bay Meadows ballyhoo. Tom Gwynne, publicity chief at Tanforan, will be Albertanis assistant at Bay Meadows, replacing Herb Phipps, who is now on the Caliente publicity staff.
