BONILUNA got through an opening on the inside in the early running to take command and, saving ground thereafter, showed the way to the finish to win under pressure. THE FLOWER, slow to get going, was forced to race around the field, but closed with a rush and was gaining rapidly. DAN TORO was well up from the start and raced fairly well to the finish. HADAGE raced in close quarters on the inside. SKY SHOOT and BERENDA had early speed, but tired. Overweight— Sky Grey, 2 pounds; Berenda, 1; Iron Princess, 4. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. SHOWABAL soon raced into a contending position and, taking command heading for home, drew out into an easy win in the last eighth. SPAZZ, a strong contender from the start, dropped back slightly in the final eighth, but was best of the others. COMPANY raced to the. front early, but was unable to* remain in the van, although going fairly well to the finish. HIGHMOST, in close quarters early, made up ground in the stretch. MERRY BREEZES was forced to race wide all the way. HEARTLESS GIRL was in close quarters early. TOP TAX pulled up lame. THISTLE AIR seemed sore after pulling up. JACK O SPADES soon sprinted to the front on the inside, lost command by racing out from the rail and,; permitting JACK BE NIMBLE to get through on the inside nearing the stretch turn, continued well in the middle of the track to again assume the leadership near the finish and won handily. HIGH MARIA, never far from the pace, raced fairly well to the end to outgame JACK BE NIMBLE. The latter took a good lead on the stretch. turn, but tired in the last sixteenth. PEP TALK never seriously threatened the leaders in a rather weak effort. JESSIE CLOUD tired. TALL OAK acted badly at the post and was started from outside the gate. • . . SKY EMPRESS came very fast nearing the stretch turn and, although forced to come around several horses on the turn, got to the front an eighth out and was never in serious danger thereafter. MAY MUSIC was pinned in close quarters next to the rail after entering the stretch and was shut off twice before getting free, then came to the outside and was going strongly at the end. BORN BLACK had early speed, raced "gamely after being headed by POMPOUS GENIE and was going well at the end. POMPOUS GENIE was used up getting to the front and, making the pace, tired near the end. BELLES LAST quit badly after making a bid on the stretch turn. ARIZONA KID was all over the track. MAD COUNT closed some ground. Overweight— Sky Empress, 2 pounds; Pompous Genie, 3; Santa Monica. 2.
