LADFIELD IS MUCH IMPROVED Never Leaves Result of Beulah Park Feature in Doubt — Siva, Sky Cloud and Blagden Win. COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 28.— Displaying • marked improvement over his previous race here, J. Binstocks Ladfield never left the result in serious doubt during the running of the Berwick Sea Food Grill Purse, featured event at Beulah Park today. Good Actor was always in close pursuit of the winner, securing the second award from Billys Folly, -which gained considerable ground to beat the- others home. Following the running, Lucille Dine made the presentation of the trophy to J. Binstock, j the owner and trainer of Ladfield. * The sport was staged over a steadily improving racing strip. A cold north wind swept the course, making topcoats a necessity for comfort, but overhead the sun shone brilliantly. Randall Anderson, Ohio state racing commissioner, was a visitor this afternoon. The attendance was of average proportions for an off-day. Siva, Sky Cloudy Fylfot and Blagden all scored by comfortable .margins after leading for most, of the distance in their respective races. It was only after a thrilling stretch duel, however, that Beaver Lake earned a close verdict in the second race. As the field entered the track for the sec-,ond race, Easy Go, with jockey J. Conroy in the saddle, ran away. As the horse was about to jump the fence in the chute at the stretch head the rider rolled off and suffered a sprained ankle. He cancelled his remaining engagements.
