| g 5 . » RECORD NUMBER OF HORSES * ■■ _ — LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 28.— With approximately 1,000 horses registered three days before the. meeting opens, a new Ameri: can. record for the number of horses to assemble for any one session is in prospect for Churchill Downs. One hundred and forty stables had registered 977 horses up to Wednesday afternoon and track officials estimated that fully 300 more already quartered at the Downs and Douglas Park, were not included in these stable lists and that as many more would be transferred here from Keeneland by Saturday. These figures indicate, according to racing secretary W. H. Shelley and judge James T. Clark, that 1,600 or more horses may be packed into the two local tracks when the scene of Kentucky racing shifts to this city on Saturday.
