WAY YONDER was prominent from the start, gained a slight advantage at the close of the first quarter mile, met determined bids from LIGHT WAVE and STAR PUPIL, disposed of tham and drew clear when reaching the stretch, drawing out through the last eighth. SUN ARBOR, well placed while slightly restrained, came with good courage during the last eighth. STAR PUPIL, forwardly placed all the way, made a determined effort to go along with the leader, but was not good enough and barely lasted to hold JUST AN IDEA safe. The latter worked his way up gradually after being outpaced early, then came through on the inside on the stretch turn and closed gamely. WHISKBRIAR made up some ground. COUNTRY JIM attempted to pull himself up after taking the first few strides. LIGHT WAVE had brief early speed. ESCALATOR bettered her position steadily on the inside, moved to the leaders nearing the stretch, responded gamely to punishment and outlasted NIKKI B. at the close. NIKKI B. had speed from the start, drew clear in the first eighth, was rated along under slight restraint and fought it out courageously in the stretch. MYRNA LEE began moving up on the outside in the last three-eighths and closed with good courage. RACEAWAY, in closest pursuit of the early pace, tired slightly during the closing strides. PROUD KING closed a good gap after being outpaced early. WISE HILDRED closed a good gap. GENERAL HOWES was unruly at the post and was away fast, but dropped back steadily in the last five-sixteenths. YAVASLUBLU, hard hustled from the start, drew clear after rounding from the back stretch. Increased his lead straightening out for the finish and, holding on willingly, held MACKS ARROW safe. The latter, unable to keep up early, finished wearing down the leader steadily. HIGH ARCH, outpaced early, came stoutly through the stretch. CHANALIS was unable to keep pace after taking a forward position early. PAPER GIRL, hard ridden while in closest pursuit of the pace, tired during the last eighth. FRENCHaTRAP a trailer for the first three-eighths, saved considerable ground entering the stretch and closed with a rush! ERECH moved up fast on the outside leaving the back stretch, was under pressure in an effort to reach the leader and tired through the last sixteenth. FUMBLE, well placed early, was unable to close any appreciable amount of ground under urging. WORTHING was unable to threaten. SCOTCH THISTLE quit badly after forcing the pace for the first half mile. The latter, reserved in closest pursuit of the pace, moved up to gain a "slight lead nearing the final sixteenth and, despite holding on stubbornly, was not quite good enough. CHANCER took command at once, drew clear in the run through the back stretch and was rated along under slight restraint, but was unable to cope with the closing bids of the first two. NOTICE ME moved up threateningly midway of the turn, but was unable to better his position to any great extent through the closing stages. PUMPGUN was outrun throughout. LIGHT CRUISER worked her way up-gradually and finished with good energy. JOHN WERRING closed a good gap in the last three-sixteenths. METAURUS closed ?qmo ground after trailing until midway of the stretch. GOLDEN FATE, well placed and under slight reserve; dropped back in the last five-sixteenths. BLACKMAIL, taken to the outside when reaching the back, stretch, moved up gradually, responded gamely to punishment and, while, holding on well, was never a serious threat to the winner. ISLEWORTH closed gamely on the outside after trailing until the closing quarter mile. NABOB was unable to close any ground under urging. STEEL KING tired.
