HOLLYWOOD HANDICAP BOARD Three Men to Assign Weights Instead of Single Individual — See Less Chance for Criticism. INGLEWOOD, Calif., April 28. — A handicapping board of three members will replace the former one-man weight assign er at Hollywood Park at the forthcoming meeting. Webb Everett, the racing secretary, Edwin J. Brown, new steward representing the State Racing Board, and James Gallagher, associate steward, will comprise the triumvirate. This means that no longer will those horsemen who loudly object to the poundage given their horse in the stakes and handicap events be able to heap criticism upon the head of a single individual. Both the horse"men and the public should be pleased at the new departure, the old adage about three heads being better than one, being applicable. Hollywood Park is to be congratulated on the innovation. It was officially announced that the Ingle-wood track will open on Memorial Day, May 30, and continue for forty-four days, plus one additional Monday of racing, which will be set aside as a Charity Day, making a total of forty-five racing days. One regularly scheduled day also will be designated as a Charity Day, so that the proceeds from two days of the sport will go to aid the needy.
