*~ --------- - 1 I INTERNATIONAL DIGEST ----.---------.--.-...-.a A tense world centered attention yester-day on Chancellor Hitlers speech to the German Reichstag in reply to President Roosevelts request for a guaranteed peace for thirty-one nations. Developments: BERLIN— Hitler rejected Roosevelts demand, but denied any warlike intentions. He renounced the Anglo-German naval treaty and Germanys non-aggression pact with Poland. WASHINGTON— Congressmen who heard Hitlers speech were convinced he intends to carry out his program of aggression until he is stopped by force or obtains his aims. LONDON— Diplomats felt Danzig and the Polish corridor will be Germanys next objectives. Britain was unmoved by renunciation of the naval agreement, convinced that Germany cannot successfully compete in shipbuilding. The speech was regarded as conciliatory to Britain, yet conscription plans were rushed. PARIS — French official circles felt the world was entering a period of increasing tension, with the climax of the crisis coming by autumn. ROME— Colonel-General Von Brauchitsch, German army chief of staff, will arrive in Rome tomorrow for consultations with the Italian army staff. WARSAW — Poland is ready to accept joint Polish-German control of Danzig bur rejects concession of the port to the Reich. Abrogation of the Polish-German friendship pact, was expected following German press attacks on Poland. .
