1 DETROIT TURF NOTES T e — i Oddesas Pride was claimed by Mrs. H. C. Rumage out of the eighth race Wednesday for ,500. Apprentice Alfred Conner made his debut before his home town folks Wednesday. Conner, who is a maiden jockey, is under contract to E. E. Watson. C. L. Croan, a member of the Kentucky Racing Commission, was a visitor, coming from his home in Louisville. Frank Seremba, who has his entire stable here in charge of W. R. Sallee, contemplates shipping eight head to Montreal for racing in that Canadian city. P. E. Byrum of Milltown, Ind., arrived and will be the guest of R. S. Byrum for several weeks. An apprentice license has been taken out by E. Cooke Trenary, Boyce, Va., prospect. Trenary is under engagement to Sam McNeil and as yet has not ridden a winner on a recognized track. C. E. Myatt, veteran jockeys agent, will book engagements for the Virginia youngster. M. B. Goff and his son, H. C. Goff, left for their home in Pittsburgh, and expect to return Monday. Goff has eight horses in training at the Fair Grounds here. Suffering a slight injury to his back when he was thrown from Honey Chile soon after the start of the second race Wednesday, jockey Frank Grill decided to cancel his mounts on the program Thursday. Grill expects to return to the saddle Friday. Henrietta C, four-year-old daughter of Pharamond II.— Irma Labrot, which raced for Mrs. J. R. Collins of Detroit, broke down so badly m the seventh race Wednesday that it was necessary to destroy her. The only horse E. Walker has at this time is the veteran plater Hueu. Trainer Jimmy Smith of the locally-owned Dixiana stable gave Shortstop, Radiogram and the filly Mistletow their final preparations for the St. Clair -Stakes Thursday morning when he worked the trio in company over the Detroit track. The youngsters went a half mile together in :47% in handy fashion, traveling the initial quarter in -231/ The St. Clair Stakes will be contested over the five furlongs distance and has an added value of S2.000.
