I AK-SAR-BEN TURF NOTES f «3 ® Starter Noel Chilcutt has been quite active since his arrival at Ak-Sar-Ben schooling the various performers in the post manners. There were quite a number of two- and three-year-olds among those which visited the starting gate. Earl "Miracle Man" H. Beezley, native owner and trainer, is one of the most loyal of the racing profession. Beezley, who hails from Syracuse, Neb., seldom misses a meeting at Ak-Sar-Ben and the past three seasons has made the trek from California to participate in the Omaha racing. At this time Beezley has the largest string here, his charges number twenty-four head. E. D. "Pete" Peterson, Daily Racing Form clocker, who arrived this week, reports the members of the thoroughbred colony are all in the "pink," which is attested by the imposing list of horses working each morning. "Pete" predicts there will be some new track records established at the impending meeting. Jockey Clarence Greenwood, affiliated with the C. J. Gamble stable, reports the stock of his employer shipped well from -Agtia Caliente, with the exception of one two-year-old, which developed a slight fever. Although a veteran among the reinsmen, Greenwood is a capable pilot and was riding in top form before leaving the coast for his native Nebraska. Ernest "Big Boy" Hutcheson is an arrival from California, where he sojourned during the winter months. Hutcheson, who served his first season with Ak-Sar-Ben last year, will have the same appointment this season. Otto "Brick" Torrell, official timer at Ak-Sar-Ben last season, is another of the official family that will be at his post when the meeting gets under way. Torrell ranks among the outstanding dockers of America.
