, I COUGHING EPIDEMIC RAGES CRETE, 111., May 25.— An epidemic of coughing among horses has struck Lincoln Fields and Washington Park, and the illness had its effect on the opening program at the local track today. The sickness is so prevalent among the two-year-olds that a programmed event for the younger racers had to be declared off for want of sufficient entries. Coughing sieges usually come earlier in the spring, but the epidemic this year probably was delayed by the late arrival of warm weather.
