SPEED, away well, saved ground throughout the opening quarter, took the lead leaving the three-eighths post, drew clear and was under mild pressure to the end. SAGE GIRL raced forwardly placed from the start, closed gamely and outfinished DIXIE PRINCESS. The latter worked her way forward steadily on the outside, made a bold bid in the stretch, then hung. MINT BOX made up ground from a slow beginning. FOLIAGE raced evenly. SPICY was never prominent. SHICAHRI was away, slowly. EN TOUR quit. BON MARCHE was green at the start and broke slowly. PAPALICO forced all the pace, shook off VICEREINE midway of the turn, drew clear and was under mild pressure at the end. HI-PEGGY raced within close pursuit of the leaders at all times, made a game effort entering the stretch, but hung the last eighth. TRAJECTORY, slow to find foot, came through on the inside at the stretch head and closed gamely to outstay DISCOUNT. The latter broke well, but dropped back, moved up again on the stretch turn and held on gamely, though tiring the last eighth. BARFORD broke in a tangle, was taken to the outside and finished with a belated rush. VICEREINE, used up forcing the pace in the early stages, quit. REE showed a flash of early speed. Won driving; second and third the same. - RURAL SHOWER followed back of the pace under steady restraint the first mile, was sent to the lead, wore down YAMMER, then gave way to IRISH ENVOY. She then came again leaving the final obstacle and, wearing down IRISH ENVOY, was going away at the finish. The latter was taken in hand from the start and, rated back the first mile, moved up with a rush after leaving the back stretch, took the lead to the final fence, then was unable to contend with the winners closing challenge. NEVER LATE raced forwardly placed in the early running, dropped back after going a mile, then came again at the end. YAMMER set a speedy pace for a mile, then faltered. BOBSWORTH had brief speed. DOER worked way forward steadily on the outside and outfinished PEGLIUS in the drive. The latter saved ground from the start and had no excuses. CRINOLINE worked way up steadily on the outside and closed gamely at the end. NIGHTS END raced RED LABEL into defeat and faltered through the final eighth. IVORY TIP tired. RED LABEL quit. SAMOAN was sent to the outside and wheeled in when the start came, having no chance.
