DEAD HEAT AT SUFFOLK DOWNS Camera Fails to Separate Chief Nadi and Court Dance in Feature Race. Crowd of 15,000 Cheers Thrilling Finish When Dead Heat Sign Is Posted — Robart Astride Four Winners. BOSTON, Mass., May 25.— In one of the most-thrilling finishes of the entire New England racing season Chief Nadi and Court Dance battled through the Suffolk Downs home stretch to a dead heat in the Hotel Kenmore Purse, which headlined this afternoons sport at the east Boston track. Court Dance, under Eddie Robart, acted badly at the starting gate, breaking through again and again, but she was away first when the bell sounded, and raced into an immediate lead. U-Boat, as usual, was up among the early leaders, followed by Chief Nadi, Clingendaal and Lake View. U-Boat lacked his zip of previous efforts and was through early, while Chief Nadi and Clingendaal responded to urging and made their bids at the head of the stretch. CLOSE RACE. Chief Nadi moved up on even terms with Court Dance at the eighth post, and from there to the wire it was as pretty a race as local fans have witnessed in many months. First one nose bobbed in front and then the other. Seventy yards from the wire it ap- ■ peared that Court Dance would take it, but Harold Krovitz, astride Chief Nadi, literally threw his mount ahead in the final stride, and not even the photograph could separate them. Clingendaal was two and one-half lengths back in third place, with Lake View and U-Boat trailing in the small field. Under sunny skies and over a track which continued to dry , out rapidly until the feature event found it approaching top condition, 15,000 fans attended the afternoons sport and greeted the dead heat "sign with thunderous cheers. It was apparent that not even they could divide the leaders, although grandstand placing judges are usually in a majority in any close decision. The running time was 1:13%. ROE ART STARS. Eddie Robart hung up a triple for the aft-1 t ernoon when he had Ace Call home by the 1 slightest of margins in the sixth race. Topee , was only a nose back in second place and! two and a half lengths ahead of Superstition, 1 coupled with the winner as the A. C. C. Stable and H. G. Bedwcll entry. Grand Pageant was edged out of third place by a nose. All the money horses laid off a fast pace established by Float Away and Short Cake and came around the leaders when ready. The race was run in 1:41% as the track continued to improve. Eddie Robart won his fourth race of the day on Listaro in the seventh race, piloting the Weston Adams-owned gelding home by three lengths. Uneasy closed well to edge out Prince Derek for second place. Listaro took command after the start, drew clear on the back stretch and then drew away at the end.
