DREEL moved through on the inside of MARCABALA to take command in the first three-sixteenths, drew clear before leaving the back stretch, increasing his lead steadily through the last quarter mile. MARCABALA was quickest to begin, raced prominently throughout, but was not good enough for the winner. BLOOMER GIRL, slow to begin and outpaced for the first three-eighths, closed a good gap the remainder of the way. LIGHTNING LADY, hard hustled to gain a forward position early, was unable to close any ground during the stretch drive. MAESTRUNG, away well, dropped back steadily. MR. BUDDY was outrun. TIME INTERVAL raced to the front immediately, opened up a daylight advantage during the first quarter mile, increased her advantage into the stretch, but was doing her utmost at the end. EVA R., under slight reserve while working her way up gradually, came stoutly through the stretch run. RAMROD, slow to begin and outrun for the first three-eighths, came willingly thereafter. HIGH TREASON had good speed in chasing the pace for the first half mile. SUN VOTER was unable to close any ground under pressure. CLEANING TIME was outrun. PATCHPOCKET tired. GOLDMAN went to the front in the opening strides, raced into an easy lead and, rated along in front, had enough left to hold DINNER JACKET safe. The latter moved up stoutly leaving the back stretch, responded gamely to punishment and was cutting down the winners advantage steadily at the end. BALL-O-FIRE, unable to keep the pace early, saved considerable ground at the stretch turn and finished with good courage in the closing drive. MINIMUM, in closest chase of. the leader in the run through the back stretch, raced wide and dropped back steadily during the last five-sixteenths. CHAINWICK was unable to engage the leaders. WINNING MARK trailed far back, began giving improved speed in the last five-sixteenths and closed a good gap in the stretch run. KENS REVENGE tired badly after going the first five-eighths. CHIEF NADI followed along within striking distance of the pace, came to the outside for the closing test, drew on even terms with COURT DANCE during the last seventy yards and fought it out determinedly to the close. COURT DANCE had good speed from the start, opened up a good lead and fought it out courageously when placed under pressure, lasting to gain a dead heat. CLINGENDAAL, slightly reserved early, was unable to close any appreciable amount of ground when placed under pressure. LAKE VIEW saved ground all the way, but was unable to endanger the leaders. U-BOAT displayed early speed, faltering badly in the last five-sixteenths. Scratched— 73575 Blind Eagle, 105. Overweight — Court Dance, 1 pound. PAY-OFF IN ALL DEAD HEATS In the case of any and all dead heats, wagers made away from the track the chart prices should prevail if track odds were offered and accepted. Where house odds were accepted, the procedure should be as follows: If was bet on each horse and S to 1 laid on one horse, the pay-off should be .00 to the player and .00 to the layer; if 2 to 1 was laid on the other, the pay-off should be .50 to the player and .50 to the layer. Where one of the horses in a dead heat is quoted at odds-on or less than even money, the transaction is a loser. For instance, if .00 is bet on a 4 to 5 shot, the pay-off in the dead heat would be 90 cents to the layer and 90 cents to the player. ACE CALL was steadied along back of the pace for the first half mile, moved up gradually thereafter and, taking command when SHORT CAKE began tiring, responded gamely to brisk pressure and outlasted TOPEE at the end. The latter was prominent all the way, responded willingly to punishment and fought it out in determined fashion all through the stretch run. SUPERSTITION worked his way up gradually, lost ground at the stretch turn and, holding on willingly, barely lasted to hold GRAND PAGEANT. The latter, unable to keep the pace early, closed with a rush in the last eighth. GOOD ODDS was unable to better her position under punishment during the last quarter mile. PRINCE DEREK, restrained until leaving the back stretch, moved up readily on the outside, was unable under hard urging to reach the leader and tired under pressure through the closing strides. PRINCIPESSA outran her field to the first turn, opened up a comfortable lead and, while holding on willingly, was unable to cope wtih the closing bid of the winner. SEA GULL moved up gamely nearing the stretch, but was unable to close any ground in the closing test. GREAT BLAZE tired under punishment during the last quarter mile. CONTINUITY was outrun throughout and showed a dull effort. BUILDING TRADES dropped back badly after reachine s the back stretch.
