AMERICAN-OWNED WINS OAKS Special Cablegram. EPSOM, England, May 26.— Galatea II., an American-owned filly belonging to Robert S. Clark, captured the historic Epsom Oaks today from nineteen rivals. The French-bred daughter of Dark Legend, from the American-bred Galaday went to the post an odds-on choice at 10 to 11 and ran the distance of one mile, 885 yards in 2:40%, almost four seconds slower than Blue Peter took to win the derby two days ago. As in the derby, Edouard Esmond furnished the second horse. This was White Fox, which defeated the Dutchess of Marlboroughs Su-perbe for the place. Curtain Call, belonging to John H. Whitney, fell during the running of ,tbe event. Mr. Clark is a brother of F. Ambrose Clark, who is prominent in racing on both sides of the Atlantic.
