BOSTON, Mass., May 26— Running vastly improved over other mediocre efforts flashed this year in New England, D. A. Woods Infidox won the featured Copley Plaza Purse at Suffolk Downs this afternoon. The winners margin was a length at the wire, with Blind Eagle, Cash o Boy and Shes Right in a tight fit behind him. It required a photograph to separate this trio. The foul-claimed sign lit up the odds board as soon as the jockeys returned to the unsaddling circle. W. L. Taylor, who rode Infidox, and Jimmy Ashcroft, astride Shes Right, hurried to the stewards stand. It was clear that Infidox had been knocked back on the rail by Shes Right while ap-I proaching the finish, and many of the 14,000 gathered in the stands were unable to understand why Infidox pilot was summoned to the stand. It became apparent a moment later when Shes Right was disqualified out of fourth money, giving that position to Somali. TAKES LEAD. Blind Eagle, the favorite, took the lead down the back stretch, with Shes Right and Infidox in closest attendance. Positions changed rapidly as Somali and Cash o Boy began to move up. Of the small field only Panther Creek was out of the running at the head of the stretch. Infidox suddenly dropped back on the inside and appeared all through. Then he sud-j denly found a new lease on life and began to • i move up again. It was then that Shes Right forced him to take back abruptly, but the I I horses speed was not impaired too greatly 1 | and he was along in the final strides to be drawing clear at the wire. The photo for I , second place followed the posting of his number as winner. j The track was fast for the first time all week, although the large gathering appreciated their topcoats in spite of the sun that f j shone brilliantly all afternoon.
