* NORTH RANDALL TURF NOTES | ♦ * Having consummated a deal for the three-year-old Compulsion, J. M. Rector brought the performer from Douglas Park for racing here. The purchase was made from the C. C. Stable and the terms were private. Nick Burger reported that the two-year-old Fair and Fast, which he purchased before leaving Louisville, unloaded with a temperature but the ailment was not regarded as serious. Apprentice Jimmy Brennan accompanied the stable of C. E. Stewart from Maryland and will do the riding. The Stewart horses are Sailorman, Bay Boy and Bold General. John Carey and Thomas J. Moran, who served in official capacities at Beulah Park, were appointed patrol judges for the North Randall meeting. Starter W. C. Daly announced that schooling will be conducted from 7 to 9 a. m. each day from the quarter-mile chute, Sunday excluded. Jockey Charlie Swain reported to the stable of Robert Wingfield and will do the bulk of the riding for this establishment. Word was received from J. G. Reedy that he is sending three horses under his supervision from Latonia, the property of Louis Ungar, Cincinnati sportsman. According to A. K. Miller, the three-year-old filly Worpoise has been slightly ailing since her engagement in the Kentucky Oaks, which accounts for her absence from the Inaugural Handicap. Jockey Jimmy Haritos, who has been riding with a good measure of success in the New England sector, arrived in time to swing into action on opening day. The Cleveland Jockey Club valets will be uniformed, the outfits consisting of white shirts, black bow ties, blue trousers and white caps. Al Yelton has been engaged to train the five horses that will carry the silks of S. S. Gano, which arrived from Lexington, where they have been in training. First call on the services of jockey Bob Finnerty has been obtained by C. C. Van Meter for the duration of the thirty-three day meeting. The New Orleans veteran has also been engaged to ride Janice in the Memorial Day Handicap for S. G. Baker, Sr. A stable of eleven thoroughbreds trained by Charlie Hall and owned by various Ohio sportsmen went into quarters here Friday morning. Four two-year-olds and two three-year-olds make up the string William Anderson i brought in from Maryland for J. P. Jones. The juveniles are Nicky, Shenuit, Hation and» Turkey Hash, while the older members are Sonoma and Pine Tag. 1
