] WHEELING DOWNS NOTES f Among the late arrivals here were many capable campaigners, including McKell and Whiskora, owned by L. Rodriguez. Whiskora earned brackets three times at Wheeling Downs last year. R. H. Wesselmans Polisher, Chance Man, Sweet Guinea, Mere Light and First Birthday; H. C. Bealls Javamocha, Lyconna and Vertis, and George Ruffs Tail-Light and Tint of Gold, adds to the long list of outstanding racers quartered at the Downs. Jockey J. Hill arrived here from Beulah Park, increasing the riding colony that will boot them home during the sixteen-day meeting. Mrs. J. Bronnenberg has Odd Star and a string which includes Red Prince, Frisco and Thistle Dick, winners at Wheeling Downs last season. Others in the Bronnenberg stable include Miss Maryland, Glimmerlee, Ducky Dee, Taranto and Jimmy T. Many speedy campaigners are now quartered at the island course. Among them are H. D. Byrnes Bills Buddie, which was vanned from Beulah Park with Lum Joy and Contribute. Sheriff R. D. Bates of Jefferson County, Ohio, brought his good handicap sprinter Tempting Witch and handy router Yankee Waters, Gonsbaby and Waswanappi complete the Bates contingent. Training for Bates is H. Huttinger. A. N. Wheeler, Columbus sportsman, sent his speedy mare Queen Clarice in company with Palseys Ruth and Grey Chance. Charlie and Pun will race in the silks of Howard Fetzer, who trains the Wheeler representatives. "Dutch" DeBoro received his good three-year-old My Denominator, which did well last year. DeBorro also has King Belgian. Weant with sixteen. Jockey J. W. "Red" Wilson was an arrival and has attached himself to the stable that Bob Mozer will race throughout the current meeting. Representatives of the Ohio State Racing Commission arrived to accept license applications and have quarters in an office ad joining that of the racing secretary. Charles Gentry has taken up Fleet Arrow and acquired the two-year-old Bamboo Broom, to campaign along with General R. during the thirty-three day session here. A. T. Simmons, radio station owner of Akron, Ohio, and a recent recruit to racing, has as his colorbearers, Saunderstown, Billys Folly and Jay Ware. Former jockey Bob Mozer is training the trio along with the following for himself: Alan Chicle, Perfect One, Sly Kitty, Never Right, Merge and Prince Jewel.
