JOT-EM-DOWN, saving ground throughout and never far from the lead in the back stretch, was rated along under steady restraint for three-quarters, moved gradually when called upon and, getting to the front in the final eighth, tired, but lasted. BLACK GIFT raced wide throughout and, also well in hand until the final quarter, responded when urged and, after taking the lead, failed to hold the winner, yet gained fast in the closing strides. PANALONG was far out of "it to the stretch, where he closed a gap. TEXAS ROSE raced under a light hold to the final quarter, where she failed to stay under only mild pressure. EXTENDED, outrun from the start, came to the extreme outside in the stretch and could not get to the leaders. ROCK SALLY quit badly. . Overweight — Texas Rose, lg pounds. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE. AGLOW, forced to race wide much of the distance and restrained for a half mile, took command with a rush and, holding on well, withstood the bid of PRINCESS TORCH. The latter, slow to respond and forced to the outside for room in the stretch, rallied in bold fashion after reaching the last three-sixteenths and was rapidly getting to the winner. SOLAR HAWK, away slowly and lacking speed, remained far out of it for more than a half mile, then came with a rush to finish fastest of all. BUSY LUTRECIA had speed, but swerved out slightly in the stretch as she tired under light pressure. ADA W. had no mishaps. RON was outrun. TOMYE showed early speed. Won driving; second and third the same. t OTTOMAN moved up easily in the first quarter, was steadied rounding the turn under a snug hold, stood a long drive gamely and was up in the closing strides. ROYAL BROOM, away fast and hustled clear in the first three-sixteenths, saved ground after the first quarter and, kept under a good hold on the turn, continued well to the last sixteenth, where she tired. DARK SEEKER bettered her position gradually from the start, came out in the stretch and closed resolutely under strong riding. HIGH POLISH gave a fine performance from a slow beginning. DEAD CALM, probably the best and receiving an overconfident ride, raced very wide throughout, moved to KING CARL gradually and without need of strong urging, but loafed briefly, Continued on twentieth page. LINCOLN FIELDS Continued from third page. permitting the winner to draw out slightly in the last eighth and rallied to pressure in the last fifty yards, but too late to get up. PUNDIT, on the inside throughout, displayed mild speed for three-quarters and was weakly handled as he tired thereafter. NATALIE ALICE, taken back early, was outrun thereafter. DRURY LANE, away fast and sent into command under vigorous riding, crossed to the inside after reaching the turn, easily opened up a coNimanding lead on the stretch turn and, continuing strongly, held her company safe to the end. QUENEMO. away very slowly and raced wide, was outrun to the stretch, where he came with a rush, overtaking CENTUPLE in the closing strides. The latter, eased back when in fairly close quarters leaving the back stretch, returned to contention with a rush after reaching the last quarter and hung on with determination, but failed to withstand QUENEMO. MI JOCK, taken back sharply when racing on the inside and close up leaving the back stretch, was immediately placed to strong pressure when clear and gave way slowly in the last three-sixteenths. TIGER displayed the most speed from the start, quickly increased his advantage when placed to pressure in the stretch, but quit badly in the last eighth. MAETOWN, taken back when lacking room early, saved ground much of the race and, closing well, overtook SYRACUSE in the final strides. SYRACUSE had speed, raced wide and also quit badly in the final eighth. MISS BONNIE was held safe throughout. GILES COUNTY saved much ground, lacked belated speed and was never dangerous. SHERRON ANN followed IRVANAS early pace under a good hold, responded well to only light urging as she raced around IRVANA soon after reaching the stretch, was ridden out briskly and probably had little left. GREENY, away slowly and raced wide from the start, drifted out on the stretch turn, was near the middle of the track thereafter and hung on well. IRVANA took command early, saved ground throughout, but tired in the last eighth. BOATS CREW had no mishaps. CRITT was unable to keep up. NANA KATE lost much ground in the first three-eighths. CHANCE STAR, reserved off the leaders for five-eighths, began to move up thereafter on the outside, rallied after reaching the final quarter and, after wearing down ALUP, held HOLL IMAGE safe. The latter, outrun for three-quarters, was put to strong pressure thereafter and was getting to the winner. INVINCIBLE lacked early speed, was steadied along for three-quarters and made up ground thereafter. ALUP,. a sharp factor from the beginning, was in hand to the second turn, took command thereafter, held on well to the final eighth and then tired. GETALONG failed to rally. WINDSHIELD made the pace under light restraint, was put to pressure when challenged after a half mile and gave way badly. NEMONT tired after three-quarters. !
