TOLA ROSE broke in motion from outside the stalls and showed high speed throughout, was shaken up slightly in the final eighth and then drew away, winning with speed in reserve. ON STAGE, a forward factor from the start, was kept well up from the start, only to falter in the final sixteenth. TACTICIAN lacked early speed, responded under pressure and finished well. SET was a forward factor in the early stages and had no mishaps. HAPPY HAUNT showed a flash of early speed and then faltered badly Scratched— Miss Gallant, 117; 74170 Race Rider, 114. EDILE jumped well from the start while racing close to the pace, moved into a commanding lead the final half mile and won with speed in reserve. BAFFLER jumped well throughout, but was weakly handled at his fences and then closed ground at the end, although unable to menace the leaders. FLYING FALCON showed speed all the way while saving ground and had no excuses in the running. COURT TIME showed ?.£0i, cffort a11 the way- 0MEL lacked speed and was outrun. He pulled up lame after the finish. LITTLE WOMAN broke down on the flat going to the final fence. SAILORS KNOT lost rider at the fifth fence. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE. Nusakan, Sept. 13, 1929—1:10—4—126. Won driving; second and third easily. DECK was outrun in the first part, but improved his position fast, responded in the final sixteenth and caught TIME PASSES in the last stride. The latter dwelt at the start, was rushed up fast, moved into an easy lead and was under severe pressure in the final drive. BLACK DEMON was outrun the first part, but made up ground and then could not menace the leaders at the end. HIGH TOSS, fractious at the post, was on the outside of the leaders entering the stretch and faltered at the end. BLUE STOCKING showed early speed and had no mishaps in the running. DON PECOS raced greenly all the way. SECRET ROSE had no mishaps. BOYCOTT was outrun the first part. STONE HAVEN had no excuses. BRIGHT THORN had no mishaps in the running. FIFTH RACE 1 MILE. RUST was cased back after the start and, under restraint to the stretch turn, made up ground on her own courage. ONE JEST was well up from the start and showed a good effort.
