BATTLE AGAINST PNEUMONIA PORTSMOUTH, N. H., May 26.— Suffering heavy colds as the aftermath of spending thirty hours trapped in the sunken submarine Squalus, three of the thirty-three survivors today battled the threat of pneumonia at Naval Hospital. They were Gavin James Coyne, Sacramento, Calif.; Charles S. Kuncy, Tulare, Calif.; and Charles A. Powell, Leesville, La. Kuney, a second-class yeoman, one of the last to be brought to safety in the diving bell, was suffering an acute attack of grippe. Coyne was brought ashore on a stretcher. Several others were in the hospital suffering from light colds, but were responding to treatment.
