Y., June 22.— Public sym- pathy for Lou Gehrig was manifested yes- terday in hundreds of letters and telegrams from baseball fans all over the country. Many of the letters and wires were addressed "ito President Ed Barrow of the Yankees. Besides the expressions of sympathy, many "cures" and methods of treatment for Geh- rigs ailment were suggested. Plans for a Gehrig Day at the stadium next month were being discussed while baseballs iron horse began treatment prescribed by the Mayo Clinic physicians who diagnosed his ailment as infantile paralysis. Spinal injections will be administered regularly. ■
