LATONIA, Ky., June 22.— With the close of the Lincoln Fields meeting on Saturday several hundred horses from Chicago are expected to help swell the steadily growing thoroughbred colony at Latonia, whose sum-i mer meeting of twenty-seven days gets under way next Thursday. Stables have been coming in daily from the Chicago track since the beginning of the week, but the general influx I is not due until this week-end, when several special trains are to discharge their thoroughbred cargoes at this picturesque Ken- tucky course. Numerous nominations for Latonias stakes have come from the Chicago sector , and included in the shipments will be many horses of real quality. TWILIGHT SPORT. Announcement that Latonia would have 1 twilight racing daily this summer, except • on Saturdays and July 4, was only made 1 yesterday, but already the news has become 1 widespread in the Greater Cincinnati area • and this policy is receiving the hearty ap-I proval of turf fans. The sport on twilight racing days will begin at 4:30 p. m. and will be over by 7:30 p. m., according to plans outlined yesterday by Col. M. J. Winn, head of the track. Some of the larger stables either here or , coming from Lincoln Fields are those of Charles T. Fisher, Clyde Van Dusen, James ; j j Graham Brown, Mrs. R. J. Murphy, Howard | I i Oots, Dan B. Midkiff, Thomas Piatt and L. I ! V. Bellew, Jr. Most of these stables have ; 1 j j Latonia stakes nominees, and all are ex-j pected to figure prominently in the division 1 j of purses here. I The number of stall applications already j in the hands of Latonia officials assures not only plenty of horses but thoroughbreds of ; j ] good quality — enough of the latter to en-f " able the track to offer sport of the highest I i I class throughout the summer season.
