CRETE PLANS GALA FINALE Lincoln Handicap to Top Saturdays Getaway Day Program. ■ — i Manie OHara Carrying Top Weight in Search for Fourth Stake Victory of Current Meeting. CRETE, 111., June 22.— The Lincoln Fields spring meeting of twenty-seven days comes to a close at the local course on Saturday, and if the track at long last gets a break from the weatherman, the second largest crowd of the season may turn out to witness the final program. Lincoln Fields has had an abnormal amount of unfavorable weath- er, but interest in the sport has not been lacking, and if the day is fair this week-end the Lincoln Fields meeting should come to a splendid close. The Lincoln Fields Jockey Club is arrang-j ing a star program for the finale, the prin-l cipal event being a renewal of the Lincoln Handicap, a contest of a mile and a six-j teenth, for older horses, which has attracted a fine field. In support of this ,500 added fixture, the Saturday card will include sev-j eral other races of merit. Eight in all, as usual, will be down for decision. Indicating a big turnout for the final day of racing here, is the heavy demand for clubhouse and box reservations. Requests for these accommodations almost equal those for Decoration Day, when Lincoln Fields entertained one of its largest crowds in many years. AFTER FOURTH TRIUMPH. The Lincoln Handicap is to see Friedberg and Axtons Manie OHara try for her fourth stakes triumph of the meeting, but this time she will be performing under top weight, 118 pounds. In other stakes here this spring she has received concessions from some of her rivals, but this week she must perform under an impost which may not set too lightly upon her. One of her most dangerous rivals appears to be Ramsey and Coppages Mucho Gusto, which is returning to competition after a long rest. He signalized his fitness for the test when he worked a mile between races here on Wednesday in 1:411 in handy fashion. The son of Marvin May will be out for his second victory in the Lincoln, he having accounted for the 1936 running of the stake.
