POMIVA broke well to gain a short lead in the opening eighth, shook off MOTHER CAREY to draw clear, saved ground, but had to be shaken up to withstand NEDTICA. The latter, away slowly, fell back badly, was steered to the outside in the last five-sixteenths, finished wide and closed full of run. CHERRYS CHILD dropped back after the opening eighth, then failed to threaten the leaders. GLAD EYE broke tardily, then saved ground to improve her position. KASIDAH raced evenly. BELL CHIMES, unable to keep pace with the leaders, rallied gamely in the last three sixteenths, finished stoutly between horses and was up nearing the end. FLOTA set a fast pace, was steadied nicely and continued tenaciously when placed to severe pressure. ENSIGNS UP carried WINTER SEA wide into the stretch, then came determinedly after being straightened out. MISS FERDINAND began sluggishly, then settled in stride to close gamely on the inside. WINTER SEA was prominent until reaching the stretch, was forced wide and tired. DONNAGINA could not improve her position. SLNLYGRET broke tardily and was squeezed back early. DRINTHORN, reserved back of the leaders for a mile and a half, moved forward readily when shaken up, raced to the outside of SLSSEX when making his run. closed stoutly under a hard drive and was up in the last few yards. SUSSEX struck his fences repeatedly, was punished at nearly all of his fences to get back in stride, saved ground, but could not withstand the winner. CARTERMOOR was allowed to drop back off the pace, then failed to threaten when shaken up. LORO was never a factor. SWIMALONG raced well placed for a mile and one half, landed badlv at the thirteenth fence and dropped back badlv. ROCK LION lost his ridr at the eleventh jump. APPREHEND trailed early and failed to menace the leaders when the final test came. TULEYRIES LIN was used up racing with ELTONHEAD and flattened out. BALCONY tired gradually. ZOSTERA, taken out from the rail soon after the start, followed close to the leaders, swung to the outside when moving to the front on the stretch turn and drew out smartly at the close. STEADY DON was displaced rounding the turn, then rallied gamely for the closing test. UGIN, outrun early, finished gamely, but could not menace seriously. IDLE SUN could not threaten when placed to a drive. FORFEND raced between horses and was unable to get to the leaders. DOUBLE BACK was used up in the first half mile and tired. BRANDON PRINCE, nicely rated, was saved back of the leaders until nearing the stretch, stole through on the inside when IN MEMORY forced LITTLE PERCY wide on the stretch turn, then closed fast and was up in the last sixteenth. LITTLE PERCY, steadied for the first se en eighths, moved up stoutly to engage the leaders nearing the stretch, was carried wide by IN MEMORY, then bumped the latter and held on gamely. IN MEMORY was hurried to the front, was rated while meeting stout contention from SPARTAN LADY, forced LITTLE PERCY wide, was bumped midway of the stretch and tired at the end. A foul was claimed against LITTLE PERCY and was not allowed. SPARTAN LADY forced a steady pace, but failed to stay. MANTAGNA was never a threat. IVY X. was under steadying restraint early, raced to the front without effort, saved ground, but quit suddenly under punishment in the last sixteenth. PINE TAG was steadied early and came determinedly in the final test. GRANDIFLORA raced clear on the outside, but was not good enough and does not amount to much. NEDEEGO had no excuses. VICKSON was prominent all the way and raced well. CHIEF EVERGREEN tired in the final drive. HASTINGS VIEW was unable to threaten seriously.
