Illinois News and Notes LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., May 26. 1 " The stable trained by E.. E. Major is heading for Fairmount Park. The string I includes Book Plate, King Cotton, Last j Call, Madam High, Lord Prospect, Prospect Lad and Miss Helen. Major also is taking Yankee Notions for Jake Lowenstein. Former jockey Johnny Kinsella, now in the Navy, was a visitor at Lincoln Fields Monday afternoon. He is in the Medical Corps and is stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Station. William Chiniquy, Chicago turf enthusiast, has been a regular at Lincoln Fields since the opening .of the meeting. He formerly raced a number of horses, several the produce of his own mares. Oscar Bachman, well known wherever racing is conducted, has returned to Chicago from Florida and plans frequent visits to Lincoln Fields and other Chicago tracks. N. Cantrell registered the horses he brought from Louisville. They were Gal-ladon, Fancy Face, Miss Nutmeg and One More. Harry Becker checked in from Louisville over the week-end with the Hopeful Stock Farms New Discovery, Galley Sweep, Floy B., and Beau Eril. The two horses Woolford Farm is sending to Omaha are Fealty and Predictable. They, will be trained there by M. C. Good-sail. Burley Parke, trainer of the John Marsch horses, has engaged Arthur Craig to handle Occupation in the Joliet Stakes a week from Saturday. Another arrival from Louisville Sunday was J. B. Welburn with the horses Lower Broadway and Lady Frances, owned by W. W. Jones. Back from Benton, 111., where he attended the funeral of his father, jockey Hugh Lemmons made preparations to leave for Detroit. Another arrival from Churchill Downs was W. H. Buckner with the horse Boston Lisa. I Edward J. Fleming, a director in the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club, was a week-end guest of Col. Matt J. Winn. C. E. Durnell sent the horse Counterbalance back to Washington Park over the weekrend. Carroll Lang has taken over the training of Huri Horn Hari for L. M. Severson. C. E. Dale formerly trained the horse. Libnel Ziegler got in at Washington Park with the horse Tetra Gal. Mrs. C. Lucas, Station House has been sent to Fairmount Park. John Lewis has registered the horse, Pocacasad. FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 26. Apprentice Sterling Anifantis, New Orleans youngster and one of the leading ridr ers at Fairmount Park last fall, will do all the riding for Roy C. Gillem. His contract has been leased to Gillem by Frank P. Letellier for the duration of the spring session at the local track, Melvin Duhan, an apprentice who rode his first winner at New Orleans last winter, arrived from the Border Stock Farm at Orange, Texas, and reported to N. K. Burkhart, who trains for Felix J. DeMary, contract employer of the reinsman. A recent arrival from Sportsmans Park was the Ross Brinson-trained stable. In the group were Vonceil, Brown Blizzard and Tetros Jr., owned by A. H. Sumerlin and Riz Raz, the property of J. E. Lilly-white. Jack Sullivan is in charge of the stalls and is placing horses as they arrive.
